The Public Visible permission in DMIx is available on every item level and makes the entire content of the folder, collection or the object as such visible to connected companies. This setting ensures transparent access to shared data while maintaining read-only restrictions. Setting the “Public visible” flag is possible in the edit mode for all item types.

- Applies to Folders, Collections and Objects.
- Automatically grants Read-Only access to all objects within folders and collection for connected companies.
What a user can do with Public Visible enabled:
- View all objects within the item type.
- Access metadata and details of the contained objects.
What a user cannot do with Public Visible enabled:
- Modify, delete, or move objects in the collection.
- Download objects unless explicitly allowed through separate permissions.
- Change collection permissions without the necessary access rights.
Use Cases for Public Visible
- Sharing standardized assets with multiple connected companies.
- Providing visibility of approved references without granting editing rights.
- Ensuring data integrity by restricting modifications while allowing access.
Company Admin Control Over Public Visible Content
- Company Admins can control whether public content from connected companies is displayed within their own company.
- This setting is available in the Company Settings and is only adjustable by Company Admins.
