Entering Data
There are two ways to enter data into the Excel template:
- Manual data entry by the user.
- Automated data generation from a source system (e.g., third-party ERP or PLM system).
If you would like to automize your data entries and feed data from a third party system to the Excel Upload Template, we recommend to book a detailed training with our Implementation Team. Please reach out to support@colordigital.com.
Below is the description of manual data maintenance by a user.
Structure of the Excel Upload Template
The Excel Upload Template is used to upload your master data into your PaX server, and it mirrors the data structure of the PaX server.
User Interface on PaX Server:
The main tab in the PaX server is labeled “Entries”, with all related sub-tabs underneath.
View of the Excel Upload Template:
The main tab in the Excel upload template is labeled “Fabrics - Entries”, and it includes all related sub-tabs.
On the first tab of the Excel Upload Sheet, you will find all object-level data. Additional attributes are mapped using an ID specific to each attribute. For every separate attribute tab, an ID is created for that attribute.
Example: Tab “Fabrics - Composition”:
For example, if you have 100% Cotton as a composition, the ID could be “Cotton”. The ID name can be freely chosen but must be unique at the attribute level. This ID is then entered in the “Compositions” column on the “Entries” tab, ensuring that the object and its attributes are properly linked.
Each attribute (visible through the different tabs) is linked to an object via an ID. A row in the Fabrics - Entries tab represents an object, to which master data is assigned.
Attributes that are not linked by an ID must be filled in using a reference table to ensure the exact spelling is entered into the Excel upload template. This reference table is provided by the ColorDigital team.
